With Thanksgiving coming up next week, I’ve been thinking a lot about the menu. It’s just my husband and I so we don’t need a lot of food, but on the other hand, the leftovers can be just as good as the meal itself! I’m a person who likes to plan in advance, and I also love to cook so the process is a lot of fun. Of course one must eat turkey on Thanksgiving, but whole turkey birds are a little large for just the two of us. This year I’m planning on doing a turkey breast recipe from Giada De Laurentiis from her cookbook Happy Cooking.


I’m also planning on making cornbread-apricot dressing with rosemary from Williams Sonoma


Along with sweet potato gratin with pecans, also from Williams Sonoma


And of course, the grand finale…dessert! Chocolate caramel crunch pie from Giada De Laurentiis


These are all brand new recipes for me which is a little risky, but it’s just my husband and I. Besides, if we ate the same thing every year, that would get a little boring. I LOVE structure and routine, for example, having turkey every Thanksgiving. But within that structure it’s fun to mix it up and try new things (recipes). Just because I love to cook doesn’t mean all my dishes turn out. Some do and some don’t…so fingers crossed!
